Heroin found in minivan pulled over in Andover
ANDOVER, Mass.—A minivan pulled over on Interstate 93 in Andover over the weekend for having illegally tinted windows has resulted in the seizure of $50,000 worth of heroin and the arrest of two people.
Police say 39-year-old Luis Sanchez-Moreta of Lawrence, and his passenger, 48-year-old Xiomara Ortiz of Boston, are scheduled to be arraigned Monday following their arrest Saturday night.
Police tell The Eagle-Tribune ( http://bit.ly/PylizU) the van was pulled over at about 5 p.m. because the front driver's window was tinted, which is illegal.
A state police drug-sniffing dog later found 605 grams of heroin, wrapped in 54 finger-like packages, stowed in a secret floor compartment.
Police say Ortiz was also carrying $6,500 in cash.
