Brown arrives, says he’s not trying to keep a distance

Senator Scott Brown attended his first Republican National Convention on Thursday, saying he was asked to play a bigger role at the party gathering but limited his attendance to a single day because of scheduling demands - not concern about fallout for his reelection campaign. Brown would not specify what expanded role he was asked to play, but he denied trying to distance himself from the GOP’s more extreme elements as he faces Democrat Elizabeth Warren in traditionally Democratic Massachusetts.
