Driver goes wrong way on Mass. Turnpike, 2 killed
LUDLOW, Mass.—Massachusetts State Police say an elderly Connecticut resident and a Massachusetts man were killed when four cars crashed on the Massachusetts Turnpike at Ludlow.
Police say an 84-year-old Clarence Lux of New Britain, Conn., was driving east on the westbound side of the turnpike, resulting in the four-vehicle crash about 8:30 p.m. Friday. His vehicle collided head on with a car, driven by a 28-year-old Robert Magee from West Bridgewater. Both were taken to Bay State Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.
Police say there were no injuries reported in two other cars involved in the crash. Neither one was towed.
Police say they had received numerous calls reporting a wrong-way driver before to the fatal crash, but patrol officers were unable to find the vehicle.
