SALEM, Mass.—Salem's memorial to the 1692 witch trials is being rededicated.

The dedication ceremony at 4 p.m. on Sunday is scheduled to take place at the Charter Street site.

More than 6 million people have visited the memorial since it was dedicated in 1992 on the tercentenary of the Salem Witch Trials.

The Salem News reports that the ceremony marks the restoration of the memorial, which was closed for several weeks for repairs to the stone wall and installation of new lighting and landscaping.

The keynote speaker Sunday is the actor Gregory Alan Williams, the first recipient of The Salem Award for Human Rights and Social Justice.

Nineteen people were hanged and one person was crushed to death during the trials.
