Hearing on proposal to raise water rates Tuesday
Town officials are holding a public hearing on proposed increases to water rates for residential and commercial users. The changes would include a $2 increase to the quarterly base rate for residents, and a $3.50 increase to the quarterly commercial base rate. The hearing is part of the regular Board of Selectman’s meeting Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Town Hall. The increase was requested by Town Manager Daniel J. Morgando to maintain the town's water infrastructure in the wake of a 14 percent drop in residential use. The new rates would raise an additional $170,000 per quarter. No changes are planned for water rates for apartments and schools.
