The state Department of Public Health recently announced that the West Nile virus was detected in mosquitoes collected in town. The virus is most commonly transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected mosquito. Health officials are urging residents to take steps to avoid mosquito bites. The Board of Health will keep the public updated on additional actions that may be appropriate if conditions change.
