LUDLOW, Mass.—State Police say the Connecticut man who caused a fatal crash while driving east in the westbound lanes of the Massachusetts Turnpike may have had a medical issue.

Police say the investigation shows that 84-year-old Clarence Lux of New Britain, Conn., made a U-turn minutes before the crashing into a car driven by 28-year-old Robert Magee of West Bridgewater on Friday night in Ludlow.

Lux and Magee died.

Police say Lux had a medical condition that might have been a contributing factor. State police would not disclose Lux's medical condition, citing medical privacy laws.

Magee was a U.S. Marine Corps corporal who was on the way to Westover Air Base in Chicopee for reservist training. He had served a tour of combat duty in Iraq.
