Middlesex sheriff's sgt. convicted of drug charge
WOBURN, Mass.—A sergeant with the Middlesex Sheriff's Department has been sentenced to six months in jail after he was found guilty of receiving cocaine and money from an undercover state trooper.
Prosecutors say a jury found 52-year-old Michael Dell'Isola of Somerville guilty of cocaine possession.
He was sentenced to one year in jail with six months to be served with the balance suspended for five years of probation.
Middlesex Sheriff Peter Koutoujian tells The Sun ( http://bit.ly/Q5gujE) his office worked with state police.
Investigators say that in April 2011, state police received information that Dell'Isola, while on duty, was pressuring an inmate to provide him with money and cocaine. A sting was set up at a coffee shop, and he was arrested while leaving with a cup full of cocaine and cash.
