South Station is the place to go if you have to head to Providence, the I-495 belt, the South Shore, Framingham, or Worcester via commuter rail. Amtrak service to Route 128, Providence, New York City, Washington, D.C., and beyond is also available here. South Station is also the city’s bus station, where you can access bus transport to most anywhere around New England, New York, and much of the Northeast. There’s also Red Line service that runs through the station to Cambridge, Somerville, Quincy and Braintree. Silver Line service is also accessible to the airport and the waterfront.
