CharlieCards are going to be a great investment if you intend on riding the T. Not only are they more environmentally friendly, and you won’t have to worry about carrying a bunch of tickets around between rides, but you actually save on your fare. A one-ride fare on any subway line, or the Silver Line, will be $2 if you have a CharlieCard. With just a ticket bought at the vending machine, or paying on board? $2.50. A one way local bus ride is $1.50 with a card, $2 without. Also, if you have a CharlieCard, you get a free bus transfer from the subway (but it’s only good within two hours of paying the fare). Don’t forget that there are discounts for students (middle school and high school) and senior citizens.
