"My commute home from Cambridge (usually 45 minutes in rush hour) took 3 and a half hours. For the most part, I was happy to see motorists helping each other wipe the ice and snow from their cars, even while on the highway."

"My husband left his office past Framingham at 1:30 and arrived home just before 9. He said he saw close to 60 accidents, spin outs, abandoned cars. People just got out of their cars and starting walking!"

"I teach a classroom of 22 kindergarten children (18 are boys!) and have 3 of my own waiting at the door for me when I pull in. It was pure pleasure to have the car to myself for 3 hours!
When life gives you snow, make snowmen!"

"Given that the city of Boston recently went around neighborhoods ticketing homes for not shoveling what essentially amounted to an inch of snow from sidewalks, perhaps it would be fitting if the general public filed a class action lawsuit against that bumbling mayor and his cohorts for proving once again how unqualified and incompetent they have been in ensuring safe driving conditions within the city."

"As I was sitting on 93 near Somerville, the song "Let it snow" was on the radio...I opened up my windows and turned up the radio.....someone in a BMW drove by and called me an (unprintable expletive). I wished him a Merry Christmas and smiled."

"It took me 6 hours to get from Woburn to Westborough. Cars were stuck everywhere, some out of gas and abandoned. Tip to anyone driving in conditions like this: use the low gears and don't spin your wheels. I was able to pass at least 3 stuck SUVs uphill in my civic."

"If I hear one more news anchor say that the T was running smoothly today I am going to scream. I was one of the thousands of commuters stranded at Back Bay in the middle of a near-riot."

"As miserable as the general commute was, it was heartening to see and be part of some non-suspicious friendliness, some mutual commiseration, wit and laughter, and an unbridled willingness to come together and help a kindred commuter. Thanks to everyone on Rte 9 W...now, if we can just keep the kindness going on those "regular" days!"

"Seeing the road conditions, rate of snowfall and delays by plows, led me once again to do what I usually do. Stay at the office and get some extra work done. Completed my expense report from Paris and Frankfurt for the last 2 weeks. "

" There were no police officers directing traffic in the Longwood Medical Area. Numerous ambulances were lined up, unable to navigate traffic. To think that the city saved a dime at the expense of people's lives."

"The state is doing the best that they can. It is also very hard to keep plowing when everyone gets on the road. This is what we call winter. We live in New England. Deal with it."

"Work kindly informed us that they could not let us go but we could use earned time or vacation time if we wanted to leave early if we felt it was 'in our best interest...'"

"The major problem with today is that most people actually paid heed to warnings and left work early to avoid the heaviest snow, which did occur here between 4 and 7. The problem was, everyone left at the same time."
