With the Constitutional Convention just hours away, and a proposal to allow Massachusetts citizens to vote on same-sex marriage, advocates on both sides began showing up early at the State House.

Proponents for same-sex marriage gathered on the State House steps around 6:30 a.m., while opponents prayed quietly across the street by the Common.
