Among the films recently rejected by prison officials, were both Academy Award-nominated films and some panned by critics, such as "Showgirls" with Kyle MacLachlan and Elizabeth Berkley.

The State Correction Commissioner has now ordered a review of how movies are chosen for viewing in the state's 10,500-inmate prison system.
