Transportation officials this morning began removing the three-ton tiles in a 200-foot stretch of tunnel connecting Interstate 93 to the Ted Williams Tunnel, where the ceiling partially collapsed Monday night, killing a woman in a passing car.

Massachusetts Turnpike Authority chairman Matthew Amorello gestured as he described the faulty tie-backs that may have caused the collapse during a press conference today.
