ALBANY, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire fire marshal says an 82-year-old Massachusetts man has been identified as the victim of a house fire in Albany.

An autopsy determined Edward Dwinnell of Framingham, Mass., died in the Tuesday morning fire after inhaling smoke and superheated gases.

Occupants of the house were alerted to the fire by smoke detectors. A residence of the home, Annette Hines, was able to get to a second story window where she called to passers-by for help.

A North Conway firefighter was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.end of story marker
