PINKHAM NOTCH, N.H. (AP) — A veteran who lost a leg fighting in Iraq is climbing Mount Washington with 11 others to raise funds for the families of special operations soldiers who were killed or wounded.

WMUR-TV reports (http://bit.ly/10BN9at) Keith Zeier and his group planned to try for the summit on Thursday. Officials said dropping air temperatures and fresh snow and high winds could make it challenging.

Zeier lost one of his legs fighting in Iraq in 2006.
