EXETER, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire Sen. Jeanne Shaheen is paying tribute to an Exeter teenager who won four medals in last year’s Paralympic Games.

Shaheen was at Exeter High School on Friday to honor senior Victoria Arlen, who was paralyzed from the waist down due to illness seven years ago. After resuming competitive swimming at the age of 16, Arlen set a world record and won a gold medal in the 100-meter freestyle at the 2012 Paralympics in London, where she also earned silver medals in three other events.

Shaheen calls Arlen an inspiration and says her Paralympic success likely will be just the start of a lifetime of impressive feats.end of story marker
