ORONO, Maine (AP) — The University of Maine won, New Hampshire tied and Vermont lost in Hockey East games.
In Orono, Maine beat Northeastern 3-1 Friday after Ben Hutton scored the game-winning goal at 10:28 of the third period. It was followed by a empty-net UMaine goal for the final score.
Maine improves to 10-17-6 on the season and 6-12-6 in Hockey East play, while Northeastern falls to 9-19-3 and 5-16-3.
Playing at home In Durham, No. 5 UNH managed a 2-2 tie with the University of Massachusetts. The Wildcats are now 17-8-6 and 12-7-5 in Hockey East, while UMass improves to 11-17-3 and 8-14-2.
In Boston, Vermont lost 3-1 to 19th-ranked Boston University. The Catamounts fall to 10-16-5 and 7-12-5, while the Terriers improve to 16-14-2 and 13-9-2.
