MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire man has been shot by police after a chase in Manchester and is facing multiple charges.
Christopher Varagianis of Pembroke was shot twice in the leg Monday night and has been hospitalized.
Court paperwork says EMTs responded to the Seven Days Market for a report of a possible heart attack. They saw Varagianis sitting in a Jeep. It looked like he needed attention, but the EMTs said Varagianis drove off. Police followed.
Police said that during the chase, Varagianis nearly struck bystanders with the Jeep. They shot at him when he drove toward them.
The 37-year-old Varagianis is being held on $750,000 bond on charges of assault, reckless conduct, and others.
