Two Seabrook, New Hampshire police officers have been fired and another has been suspended without pay after a video of them allegedly beating a man in custody surfaced on YouTube.

According to NECN, Mark Richardson and Adam Laurent were terminated today and Keith Dietenhofer will lose two days’ pay after video from an arrest was posted on YouTube by the alleged victim.

Michael Bergeron, Jr., then 19, was arrested for driving while intoxicated in November 2009. In the video, he is led down a hallway by Richardson, who suddenly slams Bergeron’s face into the wall. Bergeron gets to his feet, then falls back down to the ground, where Laurent sprays him with pepper spray.

“No chief wants something like this to happen,” said Seabrook police chief Lee Bitomske.

Bergeron’s mother spoke with NECN’s Amy Sinclair after the announcement, telling her that her faith in the town and its police department had been restored with the decision.

The video was posted in January. Richardson was charged with assault in April, and had been on unpaid leave since then. Laurent and Dietenhofer were on paid leave.
