School officials are asking students to be on alert this weekend after a UNH student reported that three men attempted to abduct her on-campus Friday morning before friends were able to intervene and stop them.
According to a campus email alert, the victim told police that a four-door sedan with South Carolina plates pulled up alongside her around 1:45 a.m. Friday morning on Garrison Avenue near Stafford Avenue and Madbury Road.
Two passengers then got out of the car and started trying to talk the victim into coming back into the vehicle with them. When she refused, the pair allegedly took her by the arm and tried to pull her into the trunk.
The men left when some male friends of the student came along, officials said.
Campus police said they were increasing patrols in the area and encouraged anyone witnessing suspicious behavior to call police immediately at 911.
Anyone with more information about Friday morning’s attempted kidnapping can call the Durham Police Department at (603) 686-2334.
