Charity raffling off chance to blow up Berlin mill stacks
BERLIN, N.H. --A social service agency hopes to benefit children when landmark pieces of the city's former pulp mill come tumbling down next month.
Coos County Family Health Services is raffling off a chance to push the buttons that will destroy two smoke stacks that have been part of the city's skyline.
The pulp mill complex has three smoke stacks. One detonation button will be pressed by a yet-to-be-named state dignitary. The other two will be raffle winners.
Tickets are going for $5, with proceeds to support oral health services for Berlin and Gorham school children.
