Record numbers of votes cast in N.H.

Associated Press count of the record vote in Tuesday's New Hampshire presidential primary, with all 301 voting precincts reporting:

Democratic ballots cast: 287,322

Republican ballots cast: 238,548

Total: 525,870

The last two New Hampshire primaries contested on both sides were in 1992 and 2000. In 1992, there also was a Libertarian Party primary.

Democratic ballots cast: 170,333

Republican ballots cast: 177,970

Libertarian ballots cast: 3,544

Total: 351,847

2000

Democratic ballots cast: 156,862

Republican ballots cast: 239,523

Turnout: 396,385 (previous record number of ballots)
