CONCORD, N.H.—A special legislative committee pricing the state's share of public education has until the end of the week to present its recommendation on a new school aid system to New Hampshire lawmakers.
The committee planned to wrap up preliminary work on a pricetag Monday and vote on a final recommendation Friday. The panel has already arrived at a rough cost of $3,500 per pupil as a preliminary base aid amount and now is working on how to target more money to deal with costlier students.
Last week, the committee voted in a straw poll to support extra aid to educate non-English speaking students.
The committee still must decide whether the state should to give more aid based on the number of poor and disabled students.![]()
