N.H. students' financial literacy needs work

CONCORD, N.H.—New Hampshire students scored above the national average on a financial literacy survey but still below a passing score.

High school seniors answered about 48 percent of the questions correctly on the Personal Finance Literacy 2008 survey. New Hampshire students answered about 53 percent correctly.

The survey was funded by Merrill Lynch and conducted by the Jump$tart Coalition, which promotes financial literacy.

The survey asks questions about credit cards, health insurance, mortgages and investing. Ten New Hampshire school participated.
