CONCORD, N.H.—Some New Hampshire communities will have to wait a little longer to find out how much more money they will get to pay for flood repairs.

The state Senate on Thursday approved sending a total of $2.8 million to communities that saw damage in the floods of May 2006 and April 2007.

Overall, the state expects to pay $6.3 million to cities, towns and other authorized agencies that suffered damage from the floods. Most of that money already has been appropriated and many communities have received their state reimbursement checks.

Information was not immediately available on which cities and towns have yet to receive full reimbursement for the state's share.

The $2.8 million will fill the gap between the actual expenses and the earlier estimates of the state's share for flood-related damage. It will supplement funds previously set aside by the Legislature for the 2006 and 2007 floods.

The legislation already has passed in the House and now heads to the governor.
