JAFFREY, N.H.—State officials have cleared a former Jaffrey (New Hampshire) Water Department employee of allegations that he intentionally filed inaccurate water quality reports.

But now officials are reviewing water quality in systems that Robert Gordon manages in his private water business.

Gordon left his position as the town's primary water operator in February. Town officials won't confirm if he was fired.

Last month, the state began investigating erroneous water quality reports Gordon filed in 2006 and 2007. The state says Gordon's reports were inaccurate, but state officials do not believe they were intentionally falsified. The inaccurate reports made safe water appear to have unacceptable levels of chlorine.

The state says it will review 17 private water systems managed by Gordon Water Works.
