MANCHESTER, N.H.—New Hampshire Senate candidate Jeanne Shaheen says U.S. troops should be withdrawn from Iraq as quickly as possible.

The former Democratic governor did not give a timetable. She is hoping for a rematch with Republican incumbent John Sununu in November.

Shaheen says the military should instead focus on fighting al-Quaida on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

She says Iraqis should pay for their country's reconstruction using their oil revenues.

She also says American reliance on Middle Eastern oil threatens our national security.

Shaheen outlined her position on foreign policy Monday at Saint Anselm College in Manchester.
