Pet Adoptathon: Cape Ann Animal Aid , 260 Main St., joins animal welfare organizations around the world for Pet Adoptathon 2008. Northern Strand Community Trail cleanup day: Bike to the Sea will hold a cleanup on the next proposed section of the Northern Strand Community Trail through the Maplewood area of Malden, May 3, 9 a.m.-noon. Meet at 9 a.m. at Salemwood School, 529 Salem St. Wear work clothes, gloves, and boots. Refreshments provided. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Library book sale and bake sale: The Friends of the Rowley Library will host its annual Book and Bake Sale, May 3, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and May 4, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the library's front lawn, 141 Main St., Route 1A. Books for all ages, DVDs, games and baked goods will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go toward the benefit of library programs.
