DURHAM
The Mill Plaza Study Committee has completed its final report on the redevelopment of the downtown shopping mall. The report, which will be presented to the Town Council at its meeting tomorrow, recommends creation of a village center with a mix of retail shops, offices space, and housing. The group also proposes a new town library on the site and indoor and outdoor spaces where people can meet and mingle. EXETER
MAIN STREET SCHOOL PRINCIPAL NAMED - Steven Adler has been named the new principal of the Main Street School. Adler is the principal of Hastings Elementary School in Lexington. The Portsmouth resident will take over the new job on July 1, replacing Paul Ford, who is retiring after 21 years with the Exeter School District.- Tom Long
GREENLAND
ROUTE 33 WIDENING BEGUN - Work has begun on the widening of Route 33 near the intersection of Route 151. Traffic has been rerouted on the busy highway and motorists may expect long delays during the project, which is expected to take several months. Police have advised drivers that they should be patient or seek out alternate routes.- Tom Long
PORTSMOUTH
133-YEAR-OLD BUILDING TO BE TORN DOWN - The Pier II warehouse will not be moving - it will be demolished. For a month the owners were offering the 133-year-old building perched on pilings over the Piscataqua River for free to anyone with the wherewithal to move it, but there were no takers.
