Huge expansion underway at N.H.'s Mount Washington Resort

BRETTON WOODS, N.H.—A new spa and conference center set to open at the Mount Washington Resort in the fall is just the start of a $1.1 billion expansion that includes the construction of homes, retail shops, restaurants and entertainment facilities over the next 10 years.

The resort, which includes the Bretton Woods Ski Area as well as the Mount Washington Hotel, was purchased two years ago by CNL Income Properties and Celebration Associates.

They plan to build 1,400 homes near the hotel and ski area and facilities for year-round recreation, including hiking trails, an equestrian center and an adventure center featuring fly fishing, rock climbing and mountain biking instruction.
