MANCHESTER, N.H.—A Londonderry teenager didn't let emergency surgery keep him from his high school graduation.

Jacob Chagnon, 18, woke up Saturday morning with sharp stomach pains. At the hospital, he was diagnosed with appendicitis, but doctors were able to perform the needed surgery laparoscopically and sent him on his way in a matter of hours.

Still a bit groggy from the surgery, Chagnon showed up at the Londonderry High School graduation ceremony in a wheelchair but was able to walk across the platform to collect his diploma.

"The doctors are Parkland (Medical Center) understood this meant a lot to me, and I needed to be hear at 2 o'clock," he said.
