CONCORD, N.H.—Summer has been here for more than a week, but the snow season doesn't officially end until Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service tracks yearly snowfall based on a season that runs from July 1 to June 30. This year, New Hampshire came close to setting a record but fell just a few inches short.

A total of 119.5 inches of snow fell in Concord in the last year, just 2.5 inches shy of the record of 122 inches set in the winter of 1873-74.

The government started tracking snowfall in Concord shortly after the Civil War.
