PORTSMOUTH, N.H.—The Star Island conference center in New Hampshire has received a grant to make needed safety upgrades.
The center -- in the Islands of Shoals off the New Hampshire coast -- is getting a $100,000 grant from the Unitarian Universalist church on Long Island, New York.
The center was built in the 1800s. It had to close for part of last summer before it was able to make other repairs. The grant will pay for new work required by state and local fire officials.
The New York congregation has provided previous grants for work including installing a sprinkler system.![]()
