KINGSTON, N.H.—State environmental officials have ordered a junk yard in Kingston, New Hampshire, to shut down, saying it has contaminated the property.

The Department of Environmental Services says ASAP Auto Salvage was ordered to close immediately. It says the owners have allowed gas and oil to seep into the ground and have operated a solid waste facility without a state permit.

The state also is ordering the owners to remove all of its junk cars, tires, debris and contaminated soil.
