CONCORD, N.H.—State environmental officials say air pollution will reach unhealthy levels in southern New Hampshire on Friday and are warning those most at risk to take care.

The Department of Environmental Services says the problem will be worst in Hillsborough and Rockingham counties. Officials say children and older adults, anyone with heart or lung disease and people who are active outdoors should consider limiting strenuous or prolonged activity.

Most of the problem involves ground-level ozone, the main component of smog, which is being brought into the state by light winds.
