KEENE, N.H.—The family of a New Hampshire teenager who was shot in the head says he is making surprising progress.

Daniel Goodchild's father and siblings say he has moved his hands and fingers and even asked for pizza. But the teen is still listed in critical condition at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

Police have accused 51-year-old Randy Whitten Jr. of shooting Goodchild with a pistol early Saturday morning in Winchester. Whitten -- who is charged with felony reckless conduct -- is being held on $20,000 cash bail after a hearing Monday in Keene District Court.

Police say the shooting happened at an outdoor party in the woods in Winchester.
