DURHAM, N.H.—A new poll has encouraging numbers for one of New Hampshire's freshmen congressmen, but not for the other.

In the 2nd Congressional District, freshman Democrat Paul Hodes is viewed favorably by more likely voters than not in the University of New Hampshire poll.

But two-thirds of those surveyed said they didn't know enough to have opinions about even the best-known Republicans competing for the GOP nomination to challenge Hodes.

In the 1st District, those surveyed split roughly evenly on whether they viewed freshman Democrat Carol Shea-Porter favorably. Republican Jeb Bradley -- whom she ousted two years ago -- was viewed more favorably.

Bradley has three opponents in the Republican primary in seven weeks. Most of those surveyed said they didn't know enough about one of them -- former state health commissioner John Stephen -- to have an opinion of him.
