MOUNT WASHINGTON, N.H.—Hikers from as far away as Colorado raised a record amount of money this weekend for a nonprofit weather observatory in New Hampshire.

The Mount Washington Observatory says 250 hikers went up the 6,288-foot peak on Saturday, raising $97,000. That was the most in the event's eight-year history.

Mount Washington is known for quickly changing and sometime treacherous weather, but Saturday was sunny and pleasant.
