New Hampshire bicycle rider killed in Maine

PORTER, Maine --Police say a New Hampshire man was killed while riding his bicycle with other family members just over the border in Maine.

Troopers say 38-year-old John Lacaillade II of Meredith, N.H., was run over Monday by a tractor-trailer as it met two oncoming vehicles on a narrow section of Route 25 in Porter.

Lacaillade was riding with other members of his family, some of whom had bicycled from California. He joined the group in Moultonborough, N.H., for the final leg of the trip, which was to bring them to Portland by the end of the day.

Troopers say it's unclear whether Lacaillade was struck by the tractor-trailer or lost control and fell. He was run over by truck's rear tires.
