Michael J. Fox campaigns with NH's Jeanne Shaheen

DURHAM, N.H.—Actor Michael J. Fox will join former New Hampshire Gov. Jeanne Shaheen next week as she calls for increased federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.

Fox has been a vocal supporter of stem cell research since being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, a chronic, progressive disorder of the central nervous system that leaves patients increasingly unable to control their movements.

He and Shaheen will speak in Durham and Manchester on Tuesday.

Shaheen, who is running for U.S. Senate against Republican John Sununu, has accused her opponent of supporting what she calls an eight-year effort by the Bush administration to diminish scientific research and development.
