BOW, N.H.—Firefighters were called to the Merrimack Station power plant in the town of Bow, but it turns out there was smoke, but no fire.
A spokesman for the Public Service Company of New Hampshire says oil dripped onto a pipe Monday morning causing insulation to smolder.
Workers called for firefighters, but there was no fire.
Merrimack Station produces 478 megawatts of power and supplies 189,000 customers.
The New Hampshire Union Leader says the plant operates on two coal-fired steam turbines and other turbines that are only used when there is great demand for power.
