SOMERSWORTH, N.H.—New Hampshire Sen. Jeanne Shaheen is discussing the extension of unemployment benefits to jobless workers in Somersworth.
Shaheen co-authored a compromise measure passed by the Senate on Wednesday that extends unemployment insurance to workers nationwide.
She's meeting with people at 11 a.m. Friday in a New Hampshire Works office.
The legislation provides 14 weeks of extended emergency unemployment compensation to workers in all states that have exhausted their benefits. Jobless workers in states with unemployment rates over 8.5 percent will be eligible for an additional six weeks of benefits.![]()
