MANCHESTER, N.H.—More than 500 refugees resettled in New Hampshire over the past year, with more than 80 percent coming from the Asian nation of Bhutan.

State officials told the New Hampshire Union Leader that that 561 refugees moved to New Hampshire during the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30. That's the highest number since at least 2002.

The largest number, 462, came from Bhutan, a Himalayan nation bordering China and Nepal. Another 60 refugees came from Iraq.

Small numbers of refugees came from Sudan, Vietnam, Sierra Leone, Congo, Burundi, Ethiopia and Somalia.
