TROY, N.H.—Veterans officials say a Marine from Troy, N.H., has died in Iraq.

Victor Bishop, district commander for District One of the American Legion in Troy, attended a candlelight vigil Monday night at the town common for Marine Staff Sgt. Stephen L. Murphy. He and David Catani, commander of American Legion Post 56, said a more formal service would be organized soon.

Both said details on Murphy, who was believed to have died Sunday, are sketchy.

Bishop said Murphy was 36 and had joined the military right after graduating from high school.

An Associated Press photo taken Monday from Dover Air Force Base shows a Marine carry team standing near a flag-draped case containing Murphy's remains.
