TROY, N.H.—The Department of Defense says a New Hampshire Marine who died in Iraq last week died as a result of a noncombat incident.
Thirty-six-year-old Stephen L. Murphy of Troy died in Anbar province on Nov. 9. The department said Monday the incident is under investigation.
Murphy was assigned to the 2nd Intelligence Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group of Camp Lejeune, N.C. The battalion is in charge of collecting and distributing information about enemy forces to assist the commander in planning operations and missions.
A funeral for the fallen Marine is scheduled for Wednesday.![]()
