EPPING, N.H.—The federal government is proposing fines of more than $280,000 against two contractors after a worker fell to his death from a water tower in Epping, N.H., last year.
The victim fell 90 feet from the tower in August. On Monday, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited two contractors hired to repair and paint the water tower.
Officials say Bullins Painting, Inc., of Eden, N.C., failed to protect the worker, and that general contractor Utility Services of Perry, Ga., failed to inspect equipment before use and failed to provide a ladder cage or other safeguards.
OSHA has accused Bullins of 20 violations and proposes $187,800 in fines. Utility Services is accused of six violations and faces $93,000 in fines.![]()
