Dartmouth accepts 2,165 for Class of 2014

HANOVER, N.H.—Dartmouth College is offering admission to 2,165 applicants who were part of the school's largest ever application pool.

Applications were up 3.5 percent over last year's record number. The overall admission rate was 11.5 percent this year, compared to 12.5 percent for the Class of 2013.

Among those who were ranked by their high schools, 95 percent of the accepted students were in the to 10 percent of their class, including 40 percent who were valedictorians.

Eleven percent of the accepted students are the first in their families to go to college. Nine percent are children of Dartmouth alumni.
