WENTWORTH, N.H.—A car racing on a dirt track in Wentworth, N.H., hit a wall and went airborne, crashing into two spectators and causing broken bones and other injuries.

Big Daddy's Speedbowl owner Mike Rivers says the accident happened just before 10 p.m. Sunday during a Sprint Cars of New England race. He said the car was going about 80 mph when it hit a wall, took a violent turn to the right and left the ground, landing in the pit area where some spectators were standing.

He says two men were hurt. One was expected to be released from the hospital Monday while the other undergoing surgery for a broken leg.

Rivers says he's unaware of any similar crashes in the track's 40-year history. He said the driver was upset.
