CONCORD, N.H.—The New Hampshire Republican Party wants the Attorney General's Office to clarify whether Democratic Gov. John Lynch's campaign manager crossed an ethical line by accepting payments from his re-election campaign while serving as his deputy chief of staff.

GOP spokesman Ryan Williams asked the attorney general whether the Executive Branch Code of Ethics prohibits that conduct as a conflict of interest. Williams said Pamela Walsh received more than $24,000 in 2009 and 2010 from the John Lynch '10 Committee while she was a state employee.

The Union Leader first reported the payments. Walsh told the paper she did the work on her own time.

Lynch campaign spokesman Jacob Hale Russell said it was absurd to suggest a conflict existed.
